Sunnidale Community Garden – Official Opening Event

You are invited to attend the Ribbon Cutting Event for the official opening of the City of Barrie’s first community garden. The event will celebrate the culmination of the efforts of the many people who have worked hard in brining this concept to fruition. The official opening will mark these efforts on Earth Day to recognize the fundamental connection of food with land and to encourage a bountiful harvest from this growing season.

When: April 22, 2010

Time: 6:00 p.m.

Where: Sunnidale Community Garden, located within Sunnidale Park backing onto the Coulter Street curve.

Event will proceed rain or shine.  ALL ARE WELCOME.

On March 28th 2010, a group of hard working folks got together to finish installing the community garden plots at the new location behind Canadian Tire and at the back of Sunnidale Park, on Coulter St.. We had men, women and children all digging in to get the plots ready for planting in the early spring. Kyla Cotton of Urban Harvester www.urbanharvester.ca), who worked with the City of Barrie (link) and Living Green Barrie (link) to get these gardens up and going, kept everyone busy. Some members brought food and a good time was had by all.
